This week we wanted to post a knowledge piece about an important topic i've just covered in my motivation psychology study!

The 10 keys to behaviour change!
These are adapted from Abraham & Benford (2020), and are well-supported theoretical items that will assist in changing health related behaviour!
Understand and define the problem.
Clarify how health psychology can assist or resolve the problem.
Identify what behaviour needs to be changed specifically.
Understand the contexts, cues and underlying mechanics that maintain the targeted behaviour.
Design an intervention that can alter some or all of these behaviours.
Test out the designed intervention to determine if it's effective, feasable and affordable.
Refine and develop the intervention for best effectiveness.
Implement the intervention and define any problems
Evaluate the efficacy.
Evaluate the effectiveness by testing it in new contexts and with additional behaviours.
While these were initially developed to work with high-level group and population problems, they are effective and applicable to the individual and can help you design any behaviour change programs you may have!
