The Real Reason We Built S&T STEPS:
Your Safe Space in the Yarra Valley

We know how intimidating it can feel to walk into a fitness space. The hardest part isn’t the workout — it’s the fear, the self-doubt, and the mental barriers that stop you from starting. We’re Tim and Stacey, and S&T STEPS exists because we’ve lived through those same struggles.
After overcoming our own significant physical and mental health challenges, we built this studio to be a genuine safe space for the Upper Yarra community - a place where real people can rebuild confidence, strength, and wellbeing without judgment.

The Science Behind the Struggle: Tim's Story.

Tim’s journey began in a place many people know all too well — feeling unfit, uncomfortable, and overwhelmed. Over the years, he lost more than 50kg while navigating severe anxiety and depression, experiences that still shape the way he coaches today.

As a qualified Exercise Scientist and Nutrition Specialist, Tim builds training programs that are safe, evidence-based, and tailored for long-term progress. He doesn’t just coach exercises — he designs systems that help people succeed sustainably.

Tim is also completing postgraduate studies in Psychology, which directly informs how he supports clients. For anyone who finds the gym intimidating, Tim focuses on building confidence and competence step by step, ensuring mental wellbeing grows alongside physical strength.

Stacey: Expertise in Movement, Recovery, and Real-Life Fitness

Stacey knows that fitness isn’t just about pushing harder - it’s about learning to move well, recover well, and take care of your body outside the studio. After losing over 20kg herself, she understands both the emotional and physical hurdles people face when starting or restarting their fitness journey.

As a Sports Therapist, Remedial Massage Therapist, and Personal Trainer, Stacey integrates movement, recovery, and strength in a way that’s practical, safe, and sustainable. She helps clients build strong, resilient bodies that support real life - not just the hour spent in the studio.

Her perspective is simple: proper recovery isn’t a luxury; it’s essential for long-term health and quality of life.
